Purpose:
More than 50% of the ashram's residents are women and children. These women are not extremely well educated, and rely on others for their well-being. It is a proven fact that women who work have greater decision-making power within the household, and make more decisions jointly with their partners. Women will also be able to keep their children in school longer.
Learning English, numeracy, and vocational skills will allow women to be much more independent in their daily lives.
